"Summer fun, something's begun.."

June has been an awesome and busy month for us! The Stafford area meetings are in full swing, and we have another one next Tuesday (the 4th Tuesday of the month) at the Wegman's in Woodbridge from 10am-noon. There is also a meeting this Saturday in Richmond from 10-12 ((6/22). We had a very successful weekday meeting earlier in the month in Richmond, and a great meeting testing out the Wegman's meeting location in Woodbridge.
We are doing a membership drive this month because National is letting us keep 100% of the membership fee (instead of the usual
50%) to help buy new carriers for our lending library. So, if you were thinking of joining or need to renew, now is the time to do so! Even if your membership isn’t quite due for renewal yet, you can still renew and we will apply it to your current schedule. We also have some AWESOME prizes donated from local businesses- for a sneak peek at what’s coming, check out our facebook page! Some of the great gear includes passes to CMOR, a Mama Spa set from Over the Moon, and some adorable gift sets from Modern June!

Also, in a few weeks our babywearing group will be TWO! To celebrate, we are having a members-only Birthday party at Sleepy Bear Coffee in Atlee from 12-4, with prizes, treats, and all kinds of fun for the kids! Come play with us!
We have a bunch of other events, classes, and fun in the works, so if you aren’t following us on facebook yet, hop to it! We have had a great two years so far, and it can only go up from here.

Upcoming Events:
June 22: Richmond Saturday Meeting, 10-Noon, St. Thomas Church
June 25: Stafford Tuesday Meeting, 10-Noon, Woodbridge Wegmans

"Strawberry Fields Forever"

Our group had a blast on Saturday when several of us gathered to pick strawberries at a local farm, Pleasant Fields, in Hanover. The crop is just starting to come in, and the kids loved eating fresh from the vine and helping drop them in the buckets. The weather was perfect and some of the members left with several bags full of fresh, gorgeous strawberries. Afterwards, some of us went to play at a local coffee shop with a play area, where the kids continued to have fun inside playing on all of the equipment!
Monday morning we had our monthly weekday meeting, which was wonderful! We loved meeting some new families and catching up with some old friends! The kids had a lot of fun playing and the adults had fun socializing. We've also welcomed several new VBEs (Volunteer Babywearing Educators- they must pass a written assessment and an in-person skills assessment through Babywearing International) to our group this month, so we're able to help more families faster! Some of those are in the Stafford area, so we will now be hosting more regular meetings in that area and are working to build a library. If you live in the Fredericksburg-Woodbridge areas of 95, let us know when and where you would like to start seeing meetings. if you would like to donate a carrier to either library, ask us about getting a receipt for tax purposes! We are so excited to be branching out to greater serve the Central VA area!
As far as upcoming events, we have a meeting on Saturday, May 25th, and we are working on a Thirty-One Party as a group fundraiser potentionally on the 15th of June. We hope to see you at one of those, and for more event information please join us on facebook or follow us on twitter at @BWIofCentralVA!

It's T-shirt Time!

Since we've had a lot of people ask about t-shirts, and have a lot of fun events coming up, we decided to have t-shirts made as a fundraiser for our group. However, we have decided not to make them group specific so that our sister BWI groups in VA, and even the non BWI groups all have a chance to order them!   Please see the order form here for prices, mock ups, and information on how to order! We would like to have our first order in NO LATER THAN February 14th, but will be doing more than one order.

Check them out and share it with your friends!

First Stafford Meeting!

Today, we had our first BWI of Central VA Stafford location meeting! We had an awesome turn out and pulled people from Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Woodbridge, in addition to leaders from Alexandria, Richmond, Centreville, and also Woodbridge. If you missed us today at the Porter Library, but live close to that location, we'd love to hear what times and places would work for you, because we'd like to get a monthly meeting on the calendar. We have a few members that are waiting to take their VBE test with BWI to lead the new meetings, but until then will be pulling leaders from both Richmond and our sister group in the DC/NoVA area.
If you are interested in becoming a VBE to help lead meetings, please let us know! We'd love to have more, especially for our Monday meetings in Richmond. Ideally we'd be able to have a weekday and weekend meeting in both the Richmond and Stafford areas, so now would be a great time to step up if you've already been considering taking the plunge.
Also, on Monday is our monthly weekday meeting for Richmond, and then the weekend meeting coming on the 26th. We are also going to be manning a booth at the Kids Expo at RIR on February 23rd, so you should come by and check us out. We'll have fun coloring pages for the kids and maybe even a craft! If you are interested in picking up a shift for the booth, please let us know. We'll be there from 10-4 and would to change shifts every hour. Hope you can join us!
Lastly, we are looking at ordering shirts to be here in time for the expo and also for all our new members. Check out our facebook page this coming week for the mock-ups and to place your order. If you have friends in the DC, Hampton Roads, or even DelMarVa group (Virginia side) that you think might be interested, tell them to check by too. After all, Virginia is for babywearers :)
Thanks again to all our friends who came out today, we can't wait to see you again soon!
